Position Summary With our Flash Lite, FlashCast, and Flash Player products, and impressive wins in the world of mobile data and experiences with the likes of NTT DoCoMo, KDDI, Samsung, and Nokia, Adobe continues to grow its Mobile and Devices team, and is now looking for a senior engineer to fill the position of Senior Computer Scientist.
In this role, you will be at the forefront of building innovative and cutting edge technology while defining and developing a consistent and powerful Flash platform for mobile devices.
You will work closely with operators and handset makers alike, to define, tailor and extend the Flash standard for the mobile world.
Responsibilities - Work closely with customers, understand their requirements and identify creative solutions to their needs.
- Plan, design, develop and implement new ideas and products lead multiple projects from requirements generation through design, coding, debugging, and product shipment.
- Own designs that have an impact on the fundamental architecture of the product.
- Interface with senior management to provide and obtain information and to build consensus regarding project and technology direction.
- Collaborate with members of the mobile team and other groups in Adobe to develop a coordinated feature set and technology offering.
- Able to define, develop, and innovate team processes.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance engineers to ensure quality throughout the development cycle.
- Mentor and review the work of less experienced engineers.
Requirements - MS or BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 10+ years experience in commercial software development, with proven ability to architect major subsystems of complex products.
- Expertise building and deploying performance and memory critical C/C++ runtime applications on mobile handsets or other constrained devices.
- Experience defining well documented APIs that ended up being used by customers to interact with core technology.
- Experience developing runtime, 2D graphics or animation applications.
- Deep knowledge of ARM processors and system on chip architectures and the ability to apply that knowledge to building high performing runtimes.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to provide strong leadership in a collaborative manner.
- Motivated self-starter who likes working in very productive, fast-paced teams.
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
Ideal - Knowledge of Macromedia Flash, including ActionScript and familiarity with other Macromedia products - Has thorough understanding of mobile technologies (such as WAP, SMS, MMS), embedded systems and web technologies (such as XML, SOAP, Web Services).
- Capable of representing Adobe on standards bodies, consortiums, etc. - Able to communicate in another language, such as Chinese, Japanese, or Korean.
