Managed Services LAN/WAN/IP Telephony Engineer
VPN, LAN/WAN, IP Telephony, Security, Routing & Switching The Verizon Business (VZB) Managed Services business practice is rapidly expanding into new and exciting areas.
The individual will be responsible for a wide range of activities surrounding the ongoing maintenance and expert level support of VZB-managed customer IP VPN (IPSEC) networks, Managed LAN (including wireless), Managed IP Telephony (multiple vendors), Managed Frame and Private IP (MPLS) solutions.
These activities will include the troubleshooting and resolution of highly complex network issues, complex change management, working with vendors and internal organizations (IT, Engineering, Marketing) on product wide issues as well as product readiness projects.
Will directly interact with customers on high visibility and complex technical issues.
Job Qualifications/Required Skills: REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, and 4-6 years progressive, technical experience.
The successful candidate will possess at least one professional level Cisco certification in good standing.
This individual must possess a solid understanding of LAN and WAN concepts (including wireless LAN), IP telephony, common network security practices, standards and troubleshooting.
Additionally, similarly strong experience with the following CPE is a must: Cisco ISR routers, Catalyst switches and Call Manager implementations.
The engineer will have technical ownership of several enterprise networks with complex router protocol solutions and various transport technologies, including Private IP/MPLS, Frame Relay, ISDN, ATM, and IPSEC VPN. Must have thorough and in-depth understanding of TCP/IP, RIP, OSPF, BGP, FRF specs, ATM specs, ISDN specs, MPLS, VLAN switching, WLAN, Security/Firewalls, VoIP, DNS. PREFERRED: Experience with any of the following equipment is a plus: Cisco PIX firewalls, Cisco remote access Concentrators, Avaya IP telephony solutions, Nortel routers and remote access concentrators, Visual CSUs, Adtran CSUs, and Adtran NT1s.
