Inside Software Systems Engineer (02344)

We also develop and provide broadband-enabled services and remote-management software for enterprises' technical support, help desks, and personal computers.
DESCRIPTION: Netopia has an immediate opening for an Inside Software Systems Engineer.
In this position you will provide support to internal the Technical Support teams and field Systems Engineers to help drive the technical sales process and ensure that prospects and customers have the right technical solutions to meet their needs.
You will help define product requirements, research competitive products in the market, conduct internal training and perform troubleshooting when advanced product knowledge is needed.
The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills and business acumen to effectively communicate the underlying value of Netopia's software suite.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Support regional Sales Engineers and Technical Support teams, solving technical problems in a pre and post-sales environment Perform technical training and/or troubleshooting Test and verify bug reports from the regional Sales Engineers Analyze feature requests reported from the regional Sales Engineers Assist in the completion of Request for Proposal responses Interface with Engineering and QA or reported bugs and features Work with product management on product definition Research competitive products in the market Creation or review of technical application notes and documentation.
Maintain a knowledge base of information for the software products REQUIREMENTS: Minimum five (5) years experience as a Software Sales or Support Engineer, selling or supporting software applications and related services Industry experience with the following software applications: remote control software including screen sharing, file sharing, and voice conferencing through IP; technical support ticketing systems consisting of peer to peer screen sharing and live chat; and software based asset management systems for cross platform workstation and application management Strong presentation skills including Web based-based and live presentations Effective written and verbal communication skills Background with hands-on experience in multiple operating environments, including Windows OS platforms NT/2000/XP, Windows 2003 Server, Mac OSX, Linux/Unix.
Knowledge of enterprise systems and networking environments, including reliability and security requirements, with emphasis on TCP/IP and LAN related services, firewalls, and applications running over IP and Internet related protocols.
Excellent problem solving, organizational and analytical skills Self starter, self learner, able to work without direct supervision Proficient with desktop applications such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and collaborative web based tools.
