Systems Engineer
Systems Engineer Job Code: HTSC06061068 Job Description: Responsible for acting as the Deputy Program Manager/Technical Lead in support of NOAA/DMSP polar satellite missions.
Coordinates any resource adjustments for new Government tasking and corrective actions, report on technical and financial status, and act immediately on any customer requirements.
Prepares task plans, weekly and monthly reports and other required deliverables and obtain customer approvals, as needed.
Reviews task leader weekly reports and ensure that they are complete and accurate and delivered in a timely manner.
Serves as a primary customer interface.
Assists the technical lead and other team members in investigating, troubleshooting, monitoring, and resolving ground system anomalies.
Assists in ground system sustainment and maintenance, including fault isolation and repair.
Assists during integration, test, and implementation of the NOAA Satellite system modifications.
This position requires some on-call and after hours support as needed to quickly organize team responses to urgent problems.
Qualifications: Requires a Bachelors (BSEE) or equivalent with experience in integration, installation, and software maintenance with a minimum 9 years of related experience.
Requires at least 2 years of active participation in the development and/or maintenance of the PACS, IPACS, or GIMTACS real-time and non-real-time subsystems, which include commanding, telemetry processing, communications and operational monitoring and control, or 2 years of similar experience on other real-time and non-real-time satellite systems.
Must possess a technical writing ability and the capacity to work independently.
Knowledge of MS Office and MS Project expertise is required.
Experience: Knowledge of satellite and ground-based communications, communications protocols, secure TCP/IP networking, commanding and telemetry processing, and cryptographic equipment interfacing and control.
Previous experience working on Federal Government technical programs, environmental satellite ground systems engineering and system design required.
This position requires a Secret government security clearance or the ability to obtain one. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
