Sr. Tools Engineer - Code Quality
Description: Essential Functions: This position requires a software engineer with good technical and communication skills who has a solid understanding of the issues involved in software quality.
The responsibilities of this position include working in a team that will: Select, evaluate, roll out and administer code quality tools at Netapp.
These will include tools such as Lint, Coverity, Purify, coding standards checkers, and other static code analysis tools.
Develop processes and infrastructure needed to roll out new tools in our environment and integrate the output from these tools with our existing tools and processes.
Drive cultural change within engineering and provide user training to make the code quality tools more effective in the environment.
Identify other tools and process changes that will improve code quality and implement them.
This is a highly visible position that will give the right person the opportunity to make a significant contribution to our code quality efforts while working on a variety of tools and projects.
Requirements: At least 10 years of experience in software development in a UNIX environement (using C and C++) and 2 years working with software code quality tools.
Demonstrated skills in writing software tools in Perl or UNIX shell script.
Prior experience with at least one software analysis tool (Lint, Coverity, Klocworks, Purify).
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Experience in defining and rolling out new processes for a software organization.
Pluses include: Prior experience rolling out and administering CCover, Purify, Cscope, Flexelint, Cleanscape LintPlus, or Splint.
Expertise with makefiles and build infrastructure.
