Sr. Networking Operations Engineer
Network Operations Engineer RESPONSIBILITIES: - Participate in project implementation of subscriber network requirements, network infrastructure, network equipment installation, de-installation and relocation of equipment.
- Coordinate all customer network projects and network interaction.
- Maintain intra-building network infrastructure for carrier transport services, and platform interconnectivity via Ethernet, Token Ring, Copper or Fiber.
- Provide documentation in the form of subscriber profiles, network diagrams, technology overviews, and project log activity.
- Assume a proactive role in the enhancement of the data center.
This includes product analysis, development, and re-engineering efforts that improve the department's method of operation.
- Create and maintain accurate documentation tracking circuit inventory - Ensure the precise and timely completion of assigned projects/tasks.
- Provide 7x24x365 escalation support to resolve production issues.
SKILLS: - Minimum of 5 years technical leader experience in a dynamic network environment.
- Expert knowledge of Firewall design and support, Nokia & Checkpoint experience preferred.
- Expert knowledge of VPN design and support.
- Technical knowledge and experience with a wide variety of network hardware including routers, switches, multiplexors, etc. - Knowledge of protocols such as TCP/IP and routing/switching protocols.
- Technical knowledge and experience with a wide variety of carrier services including DS1, DS3, Frame Relay, SONET, etc. - Technical knowledge and experience with a wide variety of transport infrastructure, media types, and termination hardware including fiber, coax, DSX, LGX, Cat5, Cat5e, etc. - Technical knowledge and experience with cabling and wiring standards.
- Technical knowledge and experience using test equipment.
- Strong working knowledge of phone systems/switches/PBX's.
- Strong customer service and communications skills (written and oral) are required.
- Strong project management, time management, and organizational skill are required.
- Ability to work effectively with local access carriers.
- Ability to effectively work in a team environment, as well as, independently.
