Sr EDI Programmer/Analyst
Sr. EDI Programmer Analyst Job Description: Participates in the activities associated with the development, implementation, and support of new and existing EC/EDI business system applications on a regional and worldwide basis.
Works as a team member within own IS group and other IS departments to implement changes or new applications.
Evaluates current system capabilities to identify changes that need to be made.
May make recommendations to improve application performance, effectiveness, and maintenance.
Creates programs from technical specifications utilizing programming languages as required.
Notifies management and system analysts when requirements cannot be met and may make recommendations for modifications and improvements.
Contacts business function areas with changes and enhancements.
Performs comprehensive functionality tests of new and updated applications to verify desired results are achieved.
Evaluates results and coordinates or makes modifications to improve program performance, effectiveness, and maintainability.
Communicates to management and system analysts direction, status, and problems with work assignments.
Works with IS personnel to overcome obstacles and complete programs.
Writes documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections.
May assist in the development and maintenance of user manuals.
Monitors performance and effectiveness of programs after implementation and provides on-going program support.
Follows established methodologies during program development and ensures programs adhere to the standards and procedures established by the IS department.
Education Bachelors Degree or work related experience is required.
Bachelors Degree in a computer related field is preferred.
Required Skills: - Word processing and spreadsheet software - Working knowledge of a development language such as Java, JavaScript, C, C+, or C#: Visual Basic, .
NET, SAP ABAP and XML - Working knowledge of program development via structured methodology or Object Oriented methods - Understanding of operating systems and databases Previous experience with electronic files, EDI or in an SAP Preferred Skills - 2+ years experience in a client server environment - Understanding of UNIX, SQL and SAP - Understanding of electronic data file transfer technologies, including AS2, FTP, HTTP and RosettaNet - Understanding of and experience with EDI data standards used in US, Europe and Japan (X12, EDIFACT, ODETTE, VDA, EIAJ, RosettaNet, etc.) - Understanding of and experience using VANs such as GXS, OrderNet, Commerce Connect, etc. - Understanding of Gentran Integration Suite/Sterling Integrato

Other Skills: Domestic and international travel as required.
Candidate must have ability to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as needed.
May be required to work second and third shift and weekends on occasion.
Good verbal/written communication skills.

Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
