IT Portal Manager
Position Summary: Resident expert for Discovery's global employee intranet Portal environment and related technologies.
Develop and manage strategy for ways to best leverage existing Portal technologies.
Project management for strategic Portal projects Responsibilities
1. Work closely with vendors and independent consultants to remain current with industry / technology developments to best leverage existing technologies to apply to Intranet projects.
2. Mentor immediate and extended application teams on portal development techniques and provide technical expertise for the development tools used by the application development team.
3. Work directly with operations group to manage, maintain and upgrade WebSphere Portal environments.
4. Collaborate with business partners to elicit and document user requirements to extend existing system functionality or provide new functionality.
5. Manage project scope, schedule, project team and client expectations for strategic Portal projects.
6. Work with the development staff to formulate effective technical approaches to satisfy user requirements.
7. Coordinate with operations team on ongoing production support.
8. Communicate and collaborate with others (e.
g., analysts, software developers, operations, QA/testing team, help desk) within IT to facilitate/coordinate completion of project
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements: * 6-8 years of IT experience managing complex projects with a large customer base and a wide variety of business sponsors.
* Direct experience deploying and managing projects using IBM's Websphere Portal Software.
* Ability to evaluate, install, test, configure, maintain, monitor performance of and troubleshoot WebSphere applications.
* Web application project management experience in a Java / J2EE environment.
* Solid understanding of Content Management principles and systems.
* Understanding of corporate Intranets, Portal solutions, and web design.
* Positive attitude, excellent verbal and written communication, customer service, problem solving, and organizational skills.
* Solid analytical, troubleshooting and testing skills.
* Strong proficiencies in MS Project, Visio, and general project management disciplines.
* Willingness to accept varying levels of responsibility in support of projects and initiatives.
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field.
* Experience working with Bowstreet Portlet Factory for WebSphere Portal.
* Domino development experience.
* Experience working with Siteminder.
* Experience working with Wily Introscope.
* Experience in Media & Entertainment industry.
* The legal right to work in the United States.
