Field Systems Specialist - Charlotte, NC
The Hertz Corporation has an immediate opening for a Field Systems Specialist based in the Charlotte, North Carolina Area.
Travel (25%) is required and a company car is provided.
The Field Systems Support (FSS) Position is a unique and challenging position.
FSS personnel are responsible for providing technical support to the Hertz family of companies: Rent A Car, Local Edition, Equipment Rental, Service Pump, Car Sales, Claims Management, and Sales Systems.FSS is involved in the support of an operation from its inception throughout its lifespan until its termination.
Technicians are on call 24x7x365 in support of these operations.
All interested candidates should possess the following: Mandatory Requirements Thorough understanding of Microsoft Desktop Operating Systems required.
Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
Working experience with MS Office products and Lotus Notes.
Exposure to WAN technologies such as Frame Relay, T1, Fractional T1, 56K, and related hardware preferred.
Experience in POS Systems in WAN environment is a plus.
Experience in structured cabling systems and EIA/TIA 568B standards is a plus.
Must possess min. 5 years in a technical position with heavy customer interaction and possess the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer service and confidence.
Must have experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Exercise initiative and judgment in the performance of assigned duties.
Must possess the ability to explain complex technology and theories in layman terms.
Regular after hour/weekend tasks will be expected on a when necessary basis.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment while managing multiple diverse projects.
Perform highly skilled technical work involving development and support of computer related systems, networks and associated hardware.
Flexibility and strength to lift 60 lbs and install cabling in less than adequate conditions with frequent disruptions.
Bending, twisting, squatting, pushing, carrying and overhead reaching are essential in performing necessary functions.
Provide answers and technical options to customer queries.
Keep abreast of current technical trends & techniques.
Extensive travel is required which may involve multiple overnight stays.
Must possess above average attention to detail and accuracy when performing daily responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications At least 5 to 7 years in a technical position with heavy customer contact/interaction.
Ability to establish & maintain a high level of customer trust & confidence.
Thorough understanding of current desktop software and communication hardware.
High school graduate with some college technical courses preferred.
Experience in a technical leadership role.
Advanced skill in the use of voltmeters, signal generators and frequency meters.
