The Senior Business Analyst serves as a liaison between the business and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs.

Possesses expertise in the business units (or departments) they support, as well as an understanding of the organization’s IT systems and capabilities.

Works on multiple projects as a project team member, occasionally as project leader.

May coach more junior staff.

Manage and support technical and/or business projects.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited too, research, development, analysis, system/process integration and quality assurance, as it relates to the Project Lifecycle.

Coordinate and facilitate discussions with business users, system users and technical development personnel to manage the project.

Project support roles may vary, as project manager or project team leader.

Roles are determined by project task size and business impact.

Expected Deliverables/Results Manages project plan development.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited too, defining business requirements, designing technical requirements, analyzing financial and operational impacts, developing and implementing quality assurance measures.

Presents project plans to project team and/or management.

Document and communicate project status to project team and/or management.

Provide final approval of project implementation, prior to production launch.

Analyzes business partner’s operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions.

Consult with management, internal and external customers to support project requirements.

Quality assurance responsibilities include, but are not limited too, development, implementation, documentation and communication of results to the project team and/or management.

Assists in business process redesign and documentation as needed for new processes, functions and technology.

Translates high level business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization and manages changes to such specifications.

Post-Implementation responsibilities include, but are not limited too, monitoring of control records, production and receivables systems and communication of results to the project team and/or management.

Educates the IT organization on the direction of the business.

Adheres strictly to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with OMX standards, policies and practices; report control weaknesses, compliance breaches and operational loss events.

Negotiates agreements and commitments by facilitating communication between business unit(s) and IT from initial requirements to final implementation.

Possesses an understanding of technological trends and used this knowledge to bring solutions to business units supported to enhance the enterprise’s competitive edge.

May make recommendations for buy versus build decisions.

Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field.

Master's degree preferred.

Must have 8+ years of relevant technical or business work experience required.

Intermediate professional level role.

Ability to work with business partners within one business function to align technology solutions with business strategies.

Proficient in SAS (Statistical Analysis Software), Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project or equivalent.

Demonstrates an informed knowledge of a business area to resolve problems on an ongoing basis.

Must be able to support several moderately complex business processes.

Must have the ability to work on multiple projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project leader.

May coach more junior staff.

Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills.

Self-starter, ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.

Knowledge of Project Lifecycle methodologies.
