Responsibilities: Senior Manager: Systems and Sales Engineering *********************************************************************** VeriSign Inc., a NASDAQ 100 high-tech company is aggressively searching for a team-oriented professional with a solution selling background and 10 years of PREVIOUS SALES ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE.
This position is a working manager role and previous management experience is required.
You will manage VeriSign's Broadband Content Services (BCS, formerly Kontiki, Inc.) Systems/Sales Engineering team.
The manager will oversee the day to day operations of the Team reporting to the VP of XYZ and be responsible for technical leadership, team development, and organizational administration.
The Team supports the Enterprise (Fortune 1000 companies) and Consumer Broadband (portals, content owners, access providers and eCommerce platforms) markets.
The manager will provide: Technical and Team Leadership - Be primary sales point of contact for your technology specialty - Confidently demonstrate technical expertise in lead technology areas and across BCS capabilities - Facilitate appropriate SE involvement in all sales opportunities - Be comfortable giving executive level presentations Team Development - Set team and individual goals and objectives - Set and manage team members' training objectives - Conduct annual performance reviews Organizational Administration - Report team status weekly - Approve travel, expenses, and PTO - Plan and execute team training events - Manage team's staffing You will manage the entire technical portion of the sales process as you clearly articulate to potential customers VeriSign's BCS Solutions and all of the technical attributes of our services, as well as the technical and business advantages that they offer versus competitive offerings.
You will interface with mid and senior management at Fortune 1000 companies to identify their requirements and present solutions.

Key responsibilities include providing service demonstrations to prospects and customers; serving as the lead technical resource for the sales team; setting and managing customer expectation levels; acting as conduit between customer, engineering, professional services and product management groups to address customer technical questions/concerns; providing customer feedback on service enhancement requests; formulating strategy and making recommendations to sales team on technology factors that will positively influence the customer's decision to select with VeriSign; developing sales tools as necessary; providing technical presentations at customer sites, partner field sales training events, trade shows, etc.; authoring technical response to RFPs; and coordinating ad hoc initiatives aimed at improving customer and partner satisfaction.
Experience and Qualifications: Prior experience in a technical role managing a high-technology sales and systems engineering group is critical.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate, manage and execute pre-sales and post sales activities in order to drive revenue and customer satisfaction across Fortune 1000 markets and trouble-shoot complex technical problems.
The ability to work with differing levels of technically skilled staff, both with partners and with internal staff.
Requirements: Demonstrated technical abilities include: ' BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field ' 10+ years of Sales Engineering and/or System Engineering ' Understanding of enterprise, internet and web technologies (Wide Area Networking, Web servers, Databases, HTML, Software Deployment best practices, etc.) ' Video Technology experience ' MPEG Compression, Codecs, Digital Rights Management, Content Management Systems, streaming protocols ' Expertise with Windows, MAC, Linux, and UNIX environments ' Understanding of internet security technologies (Digital certificates, SSL, etc.) ' Understanding of CDNs, caching solutions, network protocols.
' Experience with Perl, shell scripts, Java, and JavaScript ' Excellent written and oral communication skills ' Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new tools and technologies ' Demonstrated experience as a programmer ' Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new tools and technologies VeriSign is always looking for exceptional people throughout the world to join our organization.
