Novartis Sales Representatives are responsible for calling on practicing physicians, hospitals, managed care and other health-related organizations/personnel within an assigned territory.

He/she must provide the most current information pertaining to our products and their approved indications in a manner, which will ensure the appropriate use of these products and achieve the business potential of the territory.

Job DescriptionHOME OFFICE BASED POSITION WITHIN AREA OF COVERAGE (NORTH CAROLINA AND TENNESSEE; NASHVILLE OR RALEIGH ARE PREFERRED).

The RSM/D will function as the tactical scientific arm to Scientific Operations in the field of Gastroenterology (GI) within the area of coverage.

The RSM/D will implement scientific strategies for designated customers.

They will tailor scientific product support information to meet the needs of the local medical community in support of national product strategies.

The RSM/D ensures the appropriate dissemination of scientific information, knowledge and services in a timely, ethical and customer focused manner.

The RSM/D will function as a regional scientific resource and work to pair our key customer's needs with available Novartis resources.

They will work to provide our key scientific/medical customers with all of the necessary scientific information these customers may need to make the best decisions possible regarding the appropriate use of our products.

The RSM/D will provide Novartis with a tactical liaison to the medical/scientific community and will be responsible for establishing, developing and maintaining relationships with influential members of the appropriate TA community within a geographic region that includes potential clinical trial site placement and sponsorships.

PRINCIPALS ONLY Minimum requirementsPosition will be filled at level commensurate with experience: Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, and PharmD) with a minimum of 2 years of Postdoctoral experience in the pharmaceutical industry (preferred) or other healthcare environment to provide strategic and scientific/medical direction to national/regional business unit functions.

Thorough knowledge of medicine (including pharmacotherapy), treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, customer strategies, and FDA promotional guidelines, regulations, and ethical guidelines applied to the pharmaceutical industry.

Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills are required.

Ability to network and positively influence important customers, including thought leaders, large group practices, medical directors, and pharmacy directors.

Must be able to prioritize and work effectively in a constantly changing environment.

Preferred: Working knowledge of the entire Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access), Lotus Notes, and associated hardware.

Must be a strong team player and effectively interface with other internal departments, including Corporate Customers, Regional Business Units, Marketing, Sales, New Product Commercialization, Medical Affairs, Research, and Business Analysis.

Must have the ability to gain customer feedback, uncover business opportunities for Novartis and pair customer's unmet needs with available internal resources.

The RSM/D position is associated with approximately 60% travel.

Previous experience within the GI Therapeutic Area and/or in a Field-based position is a definite asset.

Salary flexible.
