He/she must provide the most current information pertaining to our products and their approved indications in a manner, which will ensure the appropriate use of these products and achieve the business potential of the territory.

Job DescriptionThe Hospital Specialist is responsible for maximizing Novartis product sales and developing relationships with key personnel in major Medical Center accounts, associated VA hospitals and affiliated hospitals.

Primary responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: direct promotion of CV, GI and URO products within the accounts and facilitating pull-through activities; developing thought-leaders and speakers; representing and promoting Novartis as a leader in these therapeutic areas, developing and maintaining relationships with key opinion leaders, gaining formulary approval, and prioritizing products within the academic medical center environment.

Additional responsibilities include: participating/leading account teams with Territory Representatives, District Manager, Regional Account Manager, other Institutional Specialists, and key area personnel to facilitate a coordinated Novartis effort within accounts; assisting Area Sales Manager in developing institutional strategy; implementing National and Area strategies for the product line; acting as a resource person for district Territory Representatives by providing the latest published data and competitive information available from teaching accounts; maintaining complete and accurate records; controlling expenses; providing management complete and timely reports on accomplishments, follow-up, and objectives for future calls.

Minimum requirements· Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Life Sciences, Pharmacy or Business related discipline).

· Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated successful pharmaceutical sales experience.

· Ability to work with academic customers · Knowledge of relationships between managed care and institutions.

· Exceptional use of time management, planning, organizational and selling skills.

· Experience/ability to quickly learn and master key products and markets in assigned therapeutic area.

· Computer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and hand held device literacy preferred.
