JOB SUMMARY: Provide professional specification service to architects as a “pull through” sales to penetrate the market.
Review shop drawings of distributor submittals, rule on equivalent product comparisons.
Objectives of this position will be based on number of specs written, total number of door leafs in specifications written, number of specs actually turning into sales growth in the market.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: Write technical specifications for the architectural community, including code compliance for new construction projects.
Convert and provide solutions to architects on special jobs and product application requirements.
Job walk existing facilities for code compliance.
Increase Architect’s product and application knowledge by regularly conducting box lunch and learn training events.
Create a business plan and update regularly.
Participate as needed in pre & post installation meetings.
Work in conjunction with End User Consultants, issue spec guides that outline facility product standards.
Routinely make joint end user calls with End User Consultants, with focus on current non-IR users.
Actively support local CSI, AIA, DHI, and other related professional associations.
Responsible for supporting the Indiana territory OBJECTIVES: Specify $3M of IR S&S product Maintain a 90% hit rate on $ specified Enter all specs into Specworks Review submitals for 25% of specs written 40 architect calls per year 24 training classes per year Attends 4 CSI meetings per year MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge & Work Experience: Strong understanding of door and hardware product application required.
Basic understanding of electrical security products required.
Previous spec writing experience or AHC or equivalent.
Basic understanding of fire and life safety codes recommended.
Education & Minimum Years of Experience: Minimum 5 years in the door and hardware industry, college degree Additional Skills (Computer/Technical): Basic computer skills required, Good listening, presenting and comprehension skills required.
Good organizational skills required.
Provide approved vehicle for travel PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Hours of work required: 40 hours per week Physical/Mental requirements (ie lifting 30 lbs.): lifting 30 pounds Travel % of time: 20% Personal Protection Equipment: none Environment Hazards: none Compensation and benefits package is highly competitive and reflects individual/team contribution.
