LICENSED VOCATIONAL NURSE
The history of Pacific Hospital Long Beach stretches back to 1932 when Pacific Clinic Hospital was founded by a group of civic minded citizens and doctors.
In 1956, after being joined by other local clinics, a new 92-bed non-profit hospital was formed and was called Long Beach Osteopathic Hospital.
The City of Long Beach funded the construction of an additional 96-bed facility, which opened in 1962.
The new name of the hospital became Pacific Hospital of Long Beach.
The first ICU in Long Beach was opened.
The first lens implants performed in the South Bay were done here, as were many other procedures, including keratofractive surgery.
In 1997, HealthSmart Pacific, Inc., a diversified healthcare organization purchased the hospital.
Since the change in ownership, the hospital has tripled the inpatient census, increased surgeries by more than 600%, purchased Doctor's Hospital two miles west on Pacific Avenue, bought new technology for many departments and provided secure jobs for over 800 employees and maintained the teaching program for 24 interns and residents in osteopathic medicine.
