Frederick A.O. Schwarz Legal Fellowship: Natural Resources Defense Council
Natural Resources Defense Council Job Announcement Frederick AO Schwarz Legal Fellowship NY, LA, SF, DC, or CH Offices Fellowship Description: NRDC is seeking a recent law school graduate to be a Frederick AO Schwarz Legal Fellow.
This two-year position is available starting in September 2011.
The Fellow will join a staff of lawyers, scientists, policy analysts, and support staff who work to protect public health and the environment through advocacy and education.
He or she will work on federal litigation addressing a variety of significant environmental problems, including air and water pollution, other public health threats, threats to natural resources, and environmental injustices.
NRDC represents both its own members and a range of outside clients, including neighborhood associations, regional grassroots organizations, and environmental, labor, and public health groups.
Essential Functions: The Fellow will work under the direction of senior attorneys and with other NRDC staff on all phases of litigation, from case development through trial and appeals.
The Fellow may also engage in some administrative advocacy, policy analysis and research, and legislative analysis.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements: The successful candidate will have graduated from law school within the past three years.
Exceptional legal writing and analytical skills are required.
Relevant litigation experience, such as a federal court clerkship, is a plus, as is a demonstrated commitment to nonprofit lawyering.
Location: The fellowship will be based in one of NRDCs domestic offices in New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, San Francisco, or Los Angeles.

The salary for this position is comparable with other post-JD public interest fellowships and is commensurate with experience.
