Organizational Data Position Title: Finance Specialist Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-exempt ~ 30 hours/week General Purpose/Summary Statement The Finance Specialist is responsible for many of the financial information needs of One Child Matters and its projects, including the management of the budgets, expenditures, and forecasts.
Works with our current accounting and finance applications and processes to ensure we are fully utilizing them to record and track project and unit expenditures that will allow for appropriate reporting across various levels of management within the organization.
Works with all levels of management and staff in One Child Matters.
This position assists the Director of Finance in coordinating all the financial needs of the ministry and upholding the highest standard of financial accountability and integrity.
1. Prepares accounts payable vouchers for approval and resolves outstanding issues prior to payments.
2. Gathers required information that is necessary for determining the monthly financial assistance disbursed to One Child Matters projects.
3. Assists in the reconciliation of advances given to project consultants and managers; trip advances for employees; and advances given for various mission trips4 Prepares monthly reports for financial analysis, including reporting for current capital and operational fundraising projects5 Sends disbursement notifications to projects following monthly transfers6 Communicates frequently with Field Representatives and Regional Staff via electronic notifications7 Processes and completes data entry on sponsor/donors gifts.
Researches previously processed monies in giving history to best discern how to apply the sponsor/donors money based on the written communication they have given us8 Maintains security and accountability concerning donors money.
Maintains strict confidentiality9 Reviews incoming checks and remittances.
Allocates money to proper accounts, and note documentation for future references.
10. Deposits checks via electronic scanner; deposit cash and non-scanable checks manually.11. Reconciles AGWM account, recording contributions and transfers.12. Assists in the analysis of accounting reports received from One Child Matters projects to ensure that funds are being used for the continued development and well-being of the registered children in the project.13. Supports for the annual corporate budget process.14. Is responsible for other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.

Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities with minimal supervision.10. Possesses excellent communication skills (interpersonal, verbal, and written).
Education/Experience Education: Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance required
Experience: Prior experience in finance and/or accounting; nonprofit or international preferred Working Environment/Physical Requirements Office working environment, no unusual physical activities required to do the job. Must be able to lift 20 pounds occasionally; works for most of each day in front of computer on keyboard.
