Wind Project Developer Job in Chicago 60601, Illinois US
Job Description: WIND PROJECT DEVELOPER with initial emphasis on early stage development, for PNE Wind Energy USA, Inc. a wind energy developer and headquartered in Chicago.
This position will be located in the Chicago Illinois office.
Purpose: The Wind Project Developer will be responsible for day-to-day aspects of project development, from site prospecting through commencement of construction.
The focus of this position will be to help screen, identify, secure and develop profitable site opportunities to meet PNE's development goals.
Responsibilities
1. Oversee and evaluate strategic sites for possible wind development.
Spearhead effort to analyze and acquire potential wind project sites within a designated region2 Implement community outreach programs with landowners, community leaders and environmental organizations
3. Hands-on, day-to-day aspects of the Companys wind farm early stage development activities, including: o Site prospecting, assessment, & selection.
o Negotiation and contracting of key consultants or development subcontractors.
o Liaison with consultants, land owners and local communities.
o Acquisition of permits.
o Assist with acquisition of options, leases, and easements from landownerso Preparation of inputs for the financial assessment of projects4 Help to ensure effective liaison with other company departments and a smooth hand over from development to construction for successful projects5 Represent the company if necessary in public landowner or county meetings6 Familiarity with and ability to stay current regarding changing regulatory requirements7 Have excellent knowledge of land acquisition and transmission application processes8 Be able to prepare and manage multiple projects in multiple locations against tight timeframes and budgets9 Prepare regional budgets including written comments to those budgets.10. Ensures Quality and Environmental procedures are maintained.11. Understanding of contract terms and ability to recognize discrepancies.12. Responsible to ensure safety requirements must be met.13. Stay current with professional and industrial best practices.14. Must be able to work professionally with clients, vendors, employees, managers and supervisors.15. Follow any other job-related duties/functions requested by the supervisor.Requirements: 1. Proven utility or industrial experience that includes a track record of successful negotiation skills relating to project development2 Ability to think creatively to successfully overcome obstacles and achieve objectives, financial targets and/or deadlines3 Needs expertise and the necessary skills to interface with stakeholders and will be instrumental in delivering on time cost effective projects4 Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, good interpersonal skills, Entrepreneurial abilities5 Experience in the following areas would be preferred: project development experience in the wind power or wind energy sector or experience in the planning process6 Ability and willingness to travel approximately 25%-60% of time if necessary7 Skilled in Microsoft Office and development software8 5 years experience in the Energy Industry, including 2+ years of wind development experience.
Education: BS Degree in business, science, engineering or other related subjects
