Transportation - Operations Supervisor Job in Belvidere 61008, Illinois US
The Operations Supervisor is directly responsible for the successful performance of key terminal functions including, driver supervision and dispatching, customer interaction regarding schedules, delivery quality and driver and terminal performance against established standards.
The position will supervise and direct drivers and owner operators with respect to load quality, delivery performance, damage assessment and counseling with discipline as required.
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the interpretation and daily implementation of customer requirements including vehicle aging, load building and load assignment, inventory analysis and control.
The Operations Supervisor is accountable for the inspection of driver logs per DOT requirements and is expected to counsel and/or discipline drivers and owner operators regarding log, quality and procedural violations.
The Supervisor will perform these duties to ensure all federal, state; customer and company requirements are met. The Operations Supervisor will work directly with the Regional Manager, Customer Representatives and headquarters management.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, implementation and enforcement of terminal policies concerning, inventory, quality and miscellaneous operations procedures and methods.
Day to day supervision of drivers and owner operators is required with an emphasis on consistently performing assigned duties that will positively impact inventory management, on time performance, quality/damage prevention and productivity targets.
Frequent interaction with Operations and Finance will also be required to ensure proper attention is given to the impact on corporate and field operations and any financial impact is consistent with corporate priorities.
The Operations Supervisor is required to act independently and take appropriate action based on regulations, requirements and policies from numerous sources including government, customer and company.
All actions taken will be reported to the Regional Manager to which an account will be given defining the issue, detailing the evaluation undertaken and providing details concerning the action taken.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Successful candidates will be required to pass a pre employment drug screen and background check.
