Telecommunications Engineer Job in Fort Meade 20755, Maryland US
This position is contingent on the award of a specific contract to Raytheon.
Job Description: Plans, evaluates, and/or coordinates the installation of local and/or remote voice communications equipment such as terminals, modems, video conferencing units, facsimiles, pagers, and voice and electronic mail systems.
Oversees voice network reconfiguration and billing reconciliations.
Ensures that all software including network control programs satisfy the communications needs covering both the hardware and software installed.
Develops or assists in the development of standards for carrier service and equipment.
Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.
Provides regulatory monitoring and voice network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.
May design networks or portions of networks that include selection of hardware and software packages.
Required Skills: - 4+ years experience assisting in the installation and support of network communications, including LAN/WAN/CAN systems.
- Work experience which demonstrates an understanding of switching systems and dialing standards most commonly used in today's international networks and telephony systems.
- CCNA certified - Must be familiar with: - VolP, cellular, iridium, facsimiles, STUs and STEs.
- Nortel Meridian switches, their options, and how to program them.
- Basic telephone wiring to include BIX equipment, wiring frames, and associated tools.
- Meridian Mail.
- SANBAR 6640 analog key systems.
Fiberplex and ADC modems, analog filters for use with analog ring down service and external ringers.
- Penetrating shielded enclosures and isolation techniques.
- VoIP systems to include the phone unit and Call Manager System Qualified applicants may be subject to a security investigation and must meet minimum qualifications for access to classified information.
US Citizenship and an active TS/SCI security clearance with Full Scope polygraph required.
Education Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
