Atlanta Analytical Services (AAS) is a part of the Analytical and Environmental Chemistry Product Line and provides laboratory support to the CDC/NCEH/DLS inclusive of collecting and analyzing various biological samples obtained for the purpose of assessing exposure to or the impact of being exposed to environmental chemicals as well as the detection of certain biomarkers indicative of exposure to chemicals associated with acts of chemical terrorism.

Our National Security Global Business is currently seeking a Technology Transfer Chemist .

This position is located in Atlanta, GA. The selected candidate will work full-time on a regular shift in the Incident Response and Technology Transfer Group within the Emergency Response Air Toxicants Branch.

Salary will be determined based on education and experience.

A full benefits package will be provided.

Relocation support is not available.

The selected applicant will have to obtain and maintain a CDC security clearance.

Primary job responsibilities will include: The validation, transfer, and proficiency testing of GC, GC/MS, and LC/MS methods for chemical warfare/terrorism agents and their metabolites in human blood and urine.

Validation of new methods and instrumentation.

Transfer of new analytical methods to Chemical Laboratory Response Network (LRN-C) member laboratories.

Verification of the response capabilities of the LRN-C to an agent release through regular proficiency testing and other mechanisms.

Participate in the research, development, and validation of new analytical methods in support of ongoing and new projects within ERAT.

Operate and maintain essential instrumentation associated with GC, GC/MS, and LC/MS procedures.

Achieve and maintain high technical quality while conducting analysis and data review.

Initiate problem solving for all technical issues related to area of expertise with documentation of outcomes.

Observe Universal Precautions with regard to the handling of biological samples and biological waste.

Adhere to CDC/NCEH/DLS and CLIA(tm)88 Guidelines with regard to laboratory protocols and quality control.

THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION: - US Citizenship - PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or other science related field with a minimum of 1 year experience after PhD and post-doctoral fellowships.

- Minimum of five years of experience in analytical chemistry utilizing modern analytical instrumentation (e.

g., GC, GC/MS, and LC/MS).

- Experience with Microsoft Software (e.

g., Excel and Word) - Minimum of five years experience with mass spectrometry acquisition and analysis software.

THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION: - Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

- The ability to work successfully as part of a team.

- Indications of some experience in teaching technical material to adults or evidence of having been trained in techniques on how to teach technical material.
