We are currently seeking a Contract Technical Writer to assist our Technical Communications Department.

Typical Duties would include: o Design and layout the format for new and existing manuals.

Work includes, but is not limited to, TALIS Help Development, manual development, A&E support, On-line documentation, BBS manuals, development of tutorials and training programs, develop troubleshooting and repair manuals.

o Research and write manuals on service, installation and operation of products as directed.

o Responsible for proofreading and editing manuals.

o Develop the GUI interfaces as part of the HELP system.

Work in conjunction with the GUI per and the product development team.

o Participate in product development teams.

o Regular contact required with production and engineering personnel to coordinate activities, seek information, and direct programs.

o Assist with manual translations.

o Work on the World Wide Web. o Assist with the maintenance of publication library.

o Maintain a high level of excellence and quality in all assignments.

o Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.

o Actively seek out and advise management of ways to continuously improve the quality of the process or methods employed in the day-to-day activities of the position, department or company, and participate in their implementation.

To be successful in this position you will need: To assist as directed to complete technical documentation projects including all technical, operating, installation and service manuals as well as specifications for both the Domestic and International markets.

The incumbent is primarily responsible for working with the Technical Publications Department to ensure that all specifications, support materials and documentation is written, revised and produced in a timely manner and that all technical bulletins and similar material is disseminated in a timely manner.

The incumbent should possess at least two of the following qualifications: o BA/BS (or higher degree) OR 5-7 years experience in Instructional Technology, Communications, or Journalism o 2-3 years technical writing experience, preferably with an emphasis in developing on-line help or computer based training programs.

o Involvement in software development and/or work as part of software development teams.

o Experience in designing and conducting or in background in developing educational Computer Based Tutorials (CATS).

o Experience in designing and developing On-Line Help systems.

o Working knowledge of office machines including facsimile machines, copy machines and personal computer and software (Pacemaker, Microsoft Word).

o Position requires a high degree of independent judgment, discretion and knowledge of the Company organization and products.
