The primary responsibility of this role is to provide technical support for Sales in the agricultural areas of Northern California (beginning at Madera County and north to the California, Oregon border).

The preferred location for the position would be in the area of Stockton, Modesto or south Sacramento.

The position will develop and present technical product positioning by collecting and summarizing information on new and existing Bayer and competitive products.

The proposed area has high potential growth with introduction of new Bayer exclusive products such as Movento (2008), Belt (2008), Adament (2009), Alion a non-selective herbicide (2010), Luna (fluopyram) fungicide mixtures (2010) and the continued focus on Rely along with growth in registered products such as Envidor, Previcur, Admire, Reason and Oberon.

The position provides leadership as a local expert on Bayer and competitive products and local agronomic practices in several specialty crops such as fruiting and bulb vegetables, wine grapes, citrus, and tree crops (fruit, nuts and citrus) along with the large acreage crops such as rice, cereals, corn, tree nuts and grapes (wine/raisin).

The incumbent will: Support sales activities through development of technical product positioning for Commercial Operations, demonstration of proper product use through plots and tours, creation of product promotion literature and presentations, and obtain BCS product recommendations from key influencers that support company asset and crop strategy and goals in the assigned area;Provides leadership as a local expert on Bayer and competitive products and local agronomic practices in specialty crops such as vegetables, wine grapes, citrus, avocado, strawberries, artichokes and tree crops (fruit, nuts and citrus);Provide internal and external training necessary to launch new products or technology into markets;Provide technical support to Commercial Operations/Sales representatives to effectively resolve product complaints;Conduct field trials to support Commercial Operations/Sales, evaluate innovation ideas and provide data for Product Development projects;Serve as a member of Asset and Crop Teams as needed.

As the Regional Technical lead in at least one asset or crop area, develop, assign, and summarize promotional protocols at the regional and/or national level;Travel extensively, up to 80%.

The selected candidate is required to possess the following: Master's degree/PhD.

in a plant biological or agricultural science, such as agronomy, entomology, plant pathology, plant physiology, etc OR Bachelor's degree with at least five years experience and demonstration of good understanding of field plot techniques, application methods and research practices;In depth understanding of agronomic practices, pest problems, and pest control principals necessary for production agriculture;Excellent oral, written and network communication skills to effectively inform and influence commercial operations, customers, University Research and Extension Service cooperators, key use/recommendation influencers, and asset and crop teams;Capable of building strategic relationships and influencing customer behavior via proper selection of influence tools such as demonstration plots, tours, media, events and direct sales contact;Strong analytical and creativity skills;Proven work history of acting as a team player with outstanding organizational and analytical skills;Ability to work with marketing counterparts to maximize sales opportunities;General computer proficiency including standard software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Exchange, PowerPoint, database management).
