SummaryThe Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation and support of the companys server and storage infrastructure.
The Systems Engineer is charged with the responsibility of ensuring the companys Windows and Virtual Infrastructure is performing at the highest level possible.
The SE will be responsible for performance analysis, definition of optimization metrics, and their collection.
Superior technical competency is a must along with the ability to move quickly and get things done.
The Systems Engineer must possess the ability to work effectively in a coordinating role across multiple constituencies, in a strong, open and collaborative style, a customer-service orientation with a focus on excellence, outstanding communications skills.
Challenges and Responsibilities · Provide best practice support services for the Windows based systems at the design, configure and maintain Windows and Virtual environments in test, dev, and production.
· Provide 3rd tier support for the production sites and services - troubleshoot technical problems as they arise, design and implement long term solutions.
· Document system operations processes and procedures including installation and testing of system upgrades, fail over, and configuration documentation.
Additionally, document architecture designs, system configurations and implementation procedures.
· Provides technical leadership in design and administration decisions, properties and systems.
· Performance and capacity planning: monitor, reconfigure and tune hardware and software for performance improvements and future scalability.
· Training/Mentoring: Promote the professional growth of the team.
Continually pursue opportunities for personal career/training development.
· Industry Awareness: Continually seeks industry (and shares with Management and Product Management) and market information and evaluates market trends and how they apply to technology.
· Bring new ideas and change to a growing firm.
Ensure changes are planned, documented, and implemented in a sound, low risk manner without creating system outages Skills and Requirements· Heavy server experience, troubleshooting, performance and latency optimization.
· Experience working with 64 bit systems.
· Hands on experience with IIS, Active Directory, Citrix.
· Comprehensive understanding of DNS, DHCP, WINS, Group Policy.
· At least two years experience as a Virtualized Systems Engineer.
· Hands on experience in the design, build, and installation of virtual infrastructure including administering, maintaining and troubleshooting complex virtual environments (VMWare/Xen/HyperV) for test and production use. · Exposure to latest version of VMware, vSphere v40· Experience with SAN attached clusters required, preferably HP EVA.· Knowledge of performance monitoring/ tuning, capacity management, and security for virtualized clusters.
· Must have a minimum of 5 years of Systems management and administration with an in-depth understanding of operating systems, including Microsoft Windows and Linux * Certification(s) a plus.
· Ability to evaluate, provide recommendations, and implement third party solutions.
· A bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience.
A plus: · MCSE Certification· VMware Certified Professional (VCP)· HP Certification· Citrix experience and Certification Experience5 years progressive systems management in a Windows environment2 years as virtual systems engineer (VMWare\XEN\HyperV)
