Supervisor / Night Shift Job in Northern 07305, New Jersey US
Sims Metal Management is the world's leading metal recycling company; turning unwanted post-consumer items and industrial scrap into raw materials for manufacturing operations around the world.
? Sims Metal Management has over 80 sites in the US and Canada with over 4500 employees.
SUMMARY: ?Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in operating machines that process (screen, sort, separate, and bale) household recyclable materials (metal, glass, and plastic.
) DUTIES: Observe sorting; equipment operation; processing and packaging operations for conformance to establishment specifications Review production schedules and confer with supervisory staff to plan shift operation of recycling plant Assign duties to workers according to production schedules and demonstrate safe and efficient use of equipment Inspect machinery and equipment to verify conformance to production standards; prepare time, attendance, and production reports.
Must be able to run, schedule, and ensure all metrics are being met on a daily basis Ability to delegate and monitor workers in completion of tasks and schedules Multi-task and willingness to learn all areas Must be able to lead process and/or quality teams on improving work flow and quality Requirements: Skills and Abilities: Requires previous supervisory skills in a diverse high paced manufacturing environment.
Excellent mechanical ability and possess strong analytical thinking skills.
Demonstrated ability to follow procedure and work from a set of written instructions.
Ability to work in a plant processing environment for extended periods of time.
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated flexibility required to work successfully in a team based work unit.
Basic computer skills.
Possesses good time management and multi-tasking ability.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, reach and perform light lifting.
Employee will be exposed to environmental agents.
Must be able to work in a controlled, noisy and sometimes confined environment that requires eye/ear protection at all times.
