The Staff Process Engineer is responsible supervising plans, developing, coordinating, and directing a large important engineering project or a number of small projects with many complex features.

This individual will carry out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures.

This individual will work on the development of new or improved techniques or procedures and new or refined equipment, materials, processes, products, and/or methods.

The Staff Process Engineer will serve as a staff specialist, developing and evaluating plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others.

This individual will assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products or equipment when necessary data are insufficient or confirmation by testing is advisable.

This individual performs as a staff consultant on a technical specialty, a type of facility or equipment, or a program function.

The Staff Process Engineer may technically supervise, coordinate and review the work of a small staff of engineers and technicians, estimate manpower needs and schedules and assigns work to meet completion date, or, as individual researcher or staff specialist may be assisted on projects by other engineers or technicians.

This individual will practice company safety and quality policies and procedures and is responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.

This individual is also responsible for the purchase or design of equipment that meets health, safety and environmental standards set by the company and performing design reviews and pre- validation assessments to ensure the safe and environmentally sound start-up of new processes.

The Staff Process Engineer will apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.

This individual will make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work.

This individual will utilize advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of their field and related sciences and disciplines.

The Staff Process Engineer will supervise and guide related largely to overall requirements, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.

This individual will consult with their supervisor concerning unusual problems and developments.

QualificationsA minimum of a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 9 years of engineering related experience OR a Masters degree and a minimum of 7 years of engineering related experience OR a PhD and a minimum of 4 years of engineering related experience is required.

Complex understanding of polymer and engineering fundamentals is required.

Experience in a highly regulated industry is required.

Experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry is an asset.

A clear mastery of statistical and experimental engineering techniques is required.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel is required.

Experience with Microsoft Project is preferred.

Experience with balloon catheter process and polymer bonding is preferred.

Experience with Six Sigma/Process Excellence Tools, Training, and/or Certification is preferred.

Experience managing complex projects is required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

This candidate will have strong analytical/problem solving skills.

Ability to work on cross functional teams is required.

The ability to develop and lead teams, strong collaborative skills, and the ability to negotiate and influence are required.

This position will require that you be based in Menlo Park, CA and travel 10% of the time internationally and domestically.
