Staff Accountant Job in Alpharetta 30022, Georgia US
Description: Kaplan is seeking a Staff Accounting who will liaison between the Kaplan corporate office and the student accounts office at the operations level.
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for ensuring that all student account transactions are properly recorded.
Responsibilities include: - Responsible for the accounting of tuition and fee revenue for various higher education schools.
- Review and analyze revenue reports for accuracy during the month and assist in maintaining internal controls around the revenue processes.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts each month and maintain documentation of reconciliation.
- Work with staff in the field to make sub-ledger adjustments to accurately reflect accounts receivable position.
- Resolve reconciling items through communication with other departments and posting re-classing journal entries.
- Ensure expenses are accounted for in the correct period.
- Coordinate closing process with assigned schools, report final revenue and transaction numbers to management staff, and prepare reports used in financial statement analysis.
- Analyze the P&Ls and give explanations for accounts that have variances higher or lower than a certain percentage of the budgeted amount.
- Complete special projects as assigned by management staff.
Qualifications: Requirements: - Bachelors degree in accounting- 2+ years of general accounting experience preferred.
- Intermediate MS Office Skills - Excel and Word required.
