Sr Revenue Accountant * Job in Mountain View, California US

Responsibilities The Senior Accountant is responsible for contract review and software revenue recognition.
In addition, this person develops and streamlines processes to maximize efficiency and accuracy of revenue accounting systems.
This includes support of management with the establishment & alignment of global accounting policies and procedures.
This person also acts in a business advocacy role with sales, legal, and order services in relation to enterprise & services revenue accounting issues.
This person supports on-going audit and SOX requirements, cross-functional finance departments and undertakes ad hoc projects as needed.
Qualifications Previous experience with a software company is highly required.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are required.
The candidate must be highly technical and must demonstrate an ability to perform technical accounting research.
Has the ability to work effectively across functions to resolve complex problems.
BS in Accounting and CPA or equivalent required.
3-4 years of Big 4 experience or similar experience is required.
A working knowledge of SOP 97-2 Software Revenue Recognition is required.
Proficient in Excel and knowledge of Access required; experience with Oracle 11i Financials a plus.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate strong organizational and teamwork skills and be able to role model these qualities through leadership and training.
The individual is expected to proactively develop plans to avoid potential problems and take ownership of challenges when they arise by effectively interacting with internal and external customers to gather data and resolve issues.
Has expertise in developing documents and processes using acceptable accounting practices to improve business standards.
The candidate should have the ability to communicate effectively, comfortably and successfully with all levels of management, peers and subordinates to meet customer business needs, which may require a high-level of discretion and confidentiality.
Must be able to provide complex procedural information or explanations of revenue practices professionally, accurately and in a timely fashion to internal and external customers.
Must also be able to function in a matrix and distributed team environment.
He/she should be skilled at time management and can coordinate multiple projects simultaneously in a rapidly changing business environment on a global scale.
Is self-directed, requiring little supervision, but reports frequently to management and seeks approval for actions impacting operations at a departmental or broader level.
