Sr. Project Engineer Job in Lisle 60532, Illinois US
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Responsible for identifying and justifying new product opportunities with Marketing and Sales.
Leads the product development process and guides the activities of a product development team.
Manages product modifications through the complete implementation process.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1 Provides technical support to marketing to consolidate inputs from marketing, customers and industry standards groups into product concepts and detailed requirements.
2 Presents concepts and detailed requirements internally and to customers to obtain support for development of major new products.
3 Leads a team in developing major new products.
Guides and directs the activities of multifunctional team(s) according to the priorities set by Engineering management.
4 Leads new product development efforts using the Product Development Process from product concept through volume production.
5 Manages project expenses within authorization limits set by Engineering management.
6 Completes projects according to internal product development procedures and ISO/QS requirements.
7 Establishes product development plans and completes projects on time and according to the specified performance requirements and costs.
8 Supports Molex TQM program by following approved policies and procedures.
9 Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE: Required: 8 years minimum electromechanical component design experience 2 years minimum project management experience.
Preferred: 10 years interconnection design experience Previously supervisory experience.
SKILLS: Required: Expertise in the use of analytical tools, PC and workstation software Project management skills that demonstrate the ability to set goals and priorities in order to complete projects in a systematic and timely manner.
Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
Analytical ability to apply logical reasoning, test assumptions, observe results and make corrections Knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control).
Experience with finite element modeling and solid modeling Understanding of contact physics Able to perform tolerance analysis Preferred: General understanding of basic accounting and business investment justification.
OTHER: Travel will be required as necessary.
