The purpose of this position is to oversee the development of demand and shipping forecasts (for a consumer segment across regions) for new, seasonal and continuing products using statistics and market intelligence (e.
g., category trends, account details), leveraging a customer-facing & account-based model.
Provide Commercial Business Unit (CBU) with history to 18 month view of marketplace and business analysis for decision-making.
Description Represent demand forecast for category and formulate resulting implications across all regions to internal partners (CBU, Supply Chain, Finance) Lead organization to develop unbiased, independent and accurate forecasts of unconstrained demand at the product code level over predetermined period of time and formulate resulting implications Develop accurate supply requirements and drive actionable management decision making Formulate and execute against shipping forecast based on constraints Work with Field Planners as they interface with key accounts in region, including: quantitative support for development of sales strategies, promotion and assortment plans-creation of bottoms-up account level forecasts Provide regional/account/segment point of view to senior levels of Demand Planning Supply regional/account/segment POV to merchandising for developing future assortment plans Leverage Analysts' support at home office to pull cluster/store level data to drive quantitative analysis and define and clearly communicate scope and vision of project with timeline and required deliverables Partner closely with Sales Directors to drive alignment between account Sales and Planning teams in order to drive consistent direction to accounts and home office partners Facilitate consensus with cross-functional partners on market direction and impact on the businesses Provide predictive forecast error actuals and targets to Supply Planning to implement inventory strategies to achieve service level and inventory targets Provide quantitative analyses and recommendations to product lifecycle management decisions for CBU In partnership with Sales and Merchandising drive sustainable and profitable growth at key accounts; identify white space opportunities, build realistic transition plans to meet margin goals and provide thoughtful forecast to support maximization of account opportunities Proactively identify and align team on risks to forecast and drive contingency planning to minimize downsides Build relationships with accounts' Planning Management in order to set planning strategies, build profitable assortments, drive sustainable growth and provide accurate forecasts Support team in providing proactive and ad hoc quantitative support/analytics Provide thought partnership and account-based quantitative support in building the annual business plans Support team in extracting data from MarketMax, and provide leadership in interpreting trends, and applying insights to future forecasts Lead and motivate field team of 6 to 9 planners Provide active coaching and development Basic Qualifications Bachelor degree (8+ years combined college education and work experience may be substituted for a degree).
Minimum 5 years of experience in demand planning, financial planning and analysis, and/or strategic, quantitative consulting Experience in retail or working closely with retail customers Additional Qualifications Ability to utilize both quantitative and qualitative information to develop an accurate forecast Capability to synthesize complex issues and develop a clear direction Ability to see the broader implications behind the data and develop strategies based upon this Capability to utilize own problem solving skills to coach direct reports in the enhancement of their problem solving skills
