Sr. AccountantDescription: This position is with the COMPUTER SYSTEMS SEGMENT of Volt Information Sciences, Inc. This particular division of Computer Systems, Volt Delta Resources, LLC, provides directory assistance services, and designs, develops, sells, leases and maintains computer-based directory assistance services along with other database management and related services, primarily to the telecommunications industry.
VoltDelta is a subsidiary of a multi-billion dollar public company.
We currently have a temporary opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in our corporate office in Westbury, NY. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts, document business transaction, distribute expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and receivables according to schedules.
In this challenging role, there will be accountability to analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital in addition to preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports.
Other duties include auditing contracts, orders, and vouchers and preparing reports to substantiate individual transactions.
You will monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
The Sr. Accountant will review, investigate and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
Additional responsibilities include supervision of Jr. Staff Accountant and serving as resource for Staff Accountants.
Requirements: Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree (BA) in Accounting from four-year college or university in addition to six to eight years experience, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience, in a similar accounting position.
In order to be successful in this role, you must possess a strong level of understanding and working knowledge of standard accounting principles as well as working and technical knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, especially Excel, PeopleSoft.
Any SEC and 10-Q filing experience is a plus.
Requirements also include having ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels, to organize and plan own work, to understand, research, and analyze financial data and work with a strong attention to detail.
Must possess ability to take direction and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
