This is a job summary which includes essential job duties of the position.
More specific information regarding duties may be provided upon request for particular locations and facilities.
General Responsibilities: Develops cost-reductions in steels and other purchases to address company objectives, with a particular focus on alternative materials, sku consolidation, alternate suppliers, etc. Responsible for the costs of materials with a metals focus and any other assigned products for purchase.
Duties: · Evaluate all current costs and specify / recommend changes which reduce total costs but do not compromise quality.
· On-going supplier support and trouble-shooting for existing materials, domestic and international.
· Develop standardized metals to reduce cost and increase manufacturability.
· Interact with various facets of the organization including Marketing, Manufacturing, Engineering and other groups as required.
· Develop and implement methodologies to speed material development and improve documentation.
· Qualify and implement cost savings.
· Maintain and upgrade knowledge and education.
· Other duties as assigned.
Climate: Work is performed with minimal supervision.
The position works within a team environment, which requires communication with all levels of management and production personnel.
The Engineer will be handling multiple projects and tasks requiring excellent project management skills.
· Bachelor's degree in engineering and 2-4 years of mechanical or manufacturing experience · Familiar with metal working and machining concepts, metallurgical knowledge a plus · Excellent project management skills · Excellent interpersonal skills to handle supplier development and negotiations · Able to lead and coordinate various task teams · Willingness to interact will all levels of the business · Computer literacy in CAD, Excel, PowerPoint and database applications · Pro-E or similar computer aided design experience · Self motivated Preferred Qualifications: Consumer Products Industry Experience Newell Rubbermaid and its Business Units are Equal Opportunity Employers and comply with applicable employment laws.
