Software Support Engineer Job in Deerfield 60015, Illinois US

To support our rapid growth, we are seeking talented, motivatedengineers to join our office in Chicago.
You must bring a passion forresolving issues and extend support to customers.
You will be requiredto make modifications/enhancements to the existing system and workclosely with the development team to troubleshoot and resolve customerissues.
Responsibilities will include but not limit you to thefollowing, think in a fast paced environment, modify code base toquickly issue hotfixes/patches to support existing applications,monitor the status of the application, run performance tests and aid inupgrade/patch roll-outs.
As a software support engineer, you will havethe opportunity to work with a powerful web application using some ofthe latest technologies to solve complex problems.
You will be a partof and work closely with BigMachines development team to build anddeploy our solution.
Duties: * Responding quickly to support requests.
* Implementing product hotfixes/patches to support customer set ups and developing unit tests.
* Work involves Java, JSPs, Servlets, JDBC, HTML/XML, and Web Services among other enterprise Java technologies.
* Involves understanding of basic database architecture and design.
* Retain ownership of each case until problem is resolved or resolution is identified.
* Team player with a positive attitude.
Qualifications: * A Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related software engineering discipline, or equivalent * Experience with Java application development * Excellent verbal and written communications skills * Ability to work constructively with developers, QA, Systems and Project managers towards a common goal * Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem solving skills * Be on an on-call rotation with the rest of the teamDesirable skills: * Knowledge of Relational Database and SQL queries * Experience developing web applications * Experience with Unit Testing Automation frameworks, such as Junit, HTTPUnit, etc * Experience with XML/XSL/ Web Services
