Software Engineer-Scaleable Storage Systems Job in Sunnyvale 94085, California US
Location: Sunnyvale or San Francisco, CaRiverbed is seeking talented engineers interested in designing solutions to complex problems involving high throughput data processing, disk layouts optimized for very fast access and tuning software to get the best performance out of multi-core systems.
The work is challenging but rewarding as you work with other experienced and highly capable engineers in a very supportive environment.
You’ll be working on the core technology at the heart of Riverbed’s award-winning Steelhead brand of appliances.
Education & Experience: B.S/B.E in CS, EE or related fields required.
More advanced degrees are a plus.
An ideal candidate will have 5 years of industry experience in fields such as storage systems, file systems, parallel and distributed computing etc. We make exceptions for talented engineers lacking experience.
Technical Skills: • C/C++ programming and debugging skills on Unix/Linux.
• 2 - 4 years of Multi-threaded systems programming.
• Familiarity with debugging tools such as gdb, gprof, valgrind, oprofile a big plus.The successful candidate will also have experience with one or several of the following: Asynchronous event model programming.
Local and network file system behavior.
Performance analysis and optimization.
Scalable external data structures.
Distributed systems and high-availability.
File systems, RAID implementations.
Data compression.
Design experience exposing APIs.
Linux Kernel programming.
Data De-DuplicationPersonal Skills: • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Enthusiastic, positive personality, with a good sense of humor.
• Should be self-directed and capable of initiative.
