Vangent is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/V/D Qualifications The ECHO project is need of an expert in earth science metadata with working knowledge of ISO 19115 Geographic Information Metadata.
Experience with the ECHO data model and the EOSDIS Core System (ECS) data model is preferred but not required.
The candidate must have strong leadership and communication skills to lead a working group toward a common "profile" of ISO 19115 for ESDIS which will serve as a metadata standard across multiple NASA science missions and software systems.
The candidate must have experience with XML and a firm understanding of the XML representation of earth science metadata.
Dedicated ISO 19115 representative job responsibilities: o Advocate NASA/ESDIS interests in the ISO 19115 decision making process.
o Write the ISO 19115 RFC for EDSWG SPG. o Advise ESDIS Management on ISO related requirements.
o Convene and chair a ESDIS ISO 19115 Working Group which will: o Consist of representatives from ECHO, GCMD and each Data Center o Drive out the issues related with adopting ISO 19115 o Decided if a particular ISO 19115 flavor should be adopted or develop a NASA profile or set of best practices.
o Advice the ISO Rep on issues o Design and lead the execution of a spiral development approach for adopting ISO 19115 MNST
