Solidus is looking for a software developer to be responsible for developing and implementing software modules that will support rapid prototyping of sensor control and processing systems.

These projects involve hardware and software related to radar and other sensor systems.

The software is multi-layered and operates in a real-time environment.

It is primarily built with C++, but includes other supplementary programming languages and libraries such as OpenGL, Python, and Qt. The software developer will participate in a variety of challenging development efforts.

This group supports the Department of Defense (DoD) by designing and developing modern sensor systems and components to enable a ballistic missile defense system.

The group's sensor systems expertise is being extended to support ranges involved in ballistic missile defense system testing as well as tracking satellites throughout both the Atlantic and Pacific regions.

The group designs test beds with sensor sidecars with network-centric architectures that support discrimination algorithm testing and sensor fusion experiments.

This group is also investigating the system architecture and signal processing concepts associated with a radical radar design approach for the next generation of discrimination radar sensors.

Primary Responsibilities: - Work closely with the system designers and other developers of various systems to design, develop, code, debug, and implement real-time software modules for controlling sensors, processing digitized signals, and visualizing the resultant data - Focus specifically on the design and implementation of various signal processing components of the system - Actively participate in the planning, specification, and testing of the system - Comply with software standards and mission assurance practices dictated by the project leadership
US Citizenship Required: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance
Masters degree or equivalent, or commensurate experience, in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or similar scientific or engineering discipline
Effective project team member with strong communication and organizational skills.

Flexibility to support changes of approach and task priorities
Experience with software development processes, coordination tools, standards
Ability to work very well under pressure, have expertise in, keep abreast of, and recommend the use of appropriate cutting edge technology Pluses:
A thorough understanding of radar and related signal processing
Familiarity with VSIPL, Boost libraries, Qt, and Python is desired
Experience with C++, templates and STL, and object-oriented design and programming.

Experience developing software in a Linux/UNIX environment.

Other programming languages (Java, C, Python, Matlab, boost, etc.)
Familiarity with highly redundant and fault tolerant systems in a Unix/Linux environment
Experience with parallel processing (multi-threaded and multi-processor) or distributed middleware
Familiar with concepts related to: open systems, real-time software, network sockets, and diverse compute environments, including networked computers, compute clusters, high performance computers, and remote systems
Familiarity with Subversion, Source Forge, GNU build and debugging tools, Doxygen, XML
