12-24 Month opportunity The Software Engineer Control Systems position is responsible for developing embedded software for microprocessor-based Full Authority Digital Electronic Computers (FADECs) for AEC-NA.
The successful candidate will be working on a new development project using a mix of both hand and auto coding techniques.
Key responsibilities and deliverables
Being a member of the team, helping to refine and pilot a new design process, toolset, and approach to embedded software design for the company.
Define portions of the software architecture and design with minimal architecture and design guidance if on the design team.
Define portions of the software test approach, test plan, and conduct major portions of software test and reporting with minimal guidance if on the verification team.
Use a DO-178B compliant software development process.
Execute assigned tasks efficiently and to schedule
Perform assigned tasks to a defined standard Basic Qualifications
The successful applicant will have more then 5 yrs experience with designing, coding, integrating, documenting or verifying application software, or more then 10 yrs for higher seniority positions.
Ability to handle ambiguity and being adaptable/amenable to change
Strong teaming and communication skills
Bachelor or Masters degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, or mathematics is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Embedded microprocessor code experience
Knowledge of embedded C, MISRA 2004 C, and PowerPC assembly
Knowledge of additional safety-critical languages like SPARK Ada
A working knowledge for the development and verification of certified software
Embedded control system theory and design is beneficial.
An understanding of the application of formal software design and architecture notation, like UML
Experience working within a formal configuration and control software environment
