Our client, a multinational automotive manufacturing corporation with headquarters in the Detroit-Metro region, has asked as to find a Senior Tax Analyst.

This contractual position will support the Domestic Tax Manager and International Tax Manager and will perform all tasks inherent in the preparation of the federal income tax returns in order to minimize tax liability and ensure that the company complies with all taxing authority requirements.

This position will also assist in the calculations of the company's quarterly and year-end provision for income taxes required under FAS 109.

In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for researching various issues that arise in return preparation, preparing and referencing work papers supporting quarterly estimated federal tax payments, gathering royalties and dividends information, responding to requests for information from federal and state taxing authorities, helping to resolve issues in audit situations, and for various tax planning initiatives and compliance projects that occur on a regular basis.

Key Responsibilities: Prepare and assist in calculations for the company's quarterly and year-end income tax provision in compliance with Financial Accounting Standard 109.

Includes collection of information required to compute the provision and prepare the detailed work papers required to comply with auditing standards imposed by the SEC, the FASB, Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, and the company's outside auditors.

Prepare federal tax returns: Obtain financial information from Corporate Reporting through the Hyperion system; coordinate with business units to gather and analyze financial information for tax returns; respond to inquiries from business units; calculate depreciation for tax purposes; calculate financial figures in order to make tax adjustments; research any issues that arise; and complete a consolidated tax return as well as a return for each legal entity.

Assist organization during audits involving state or federal tax returns: Gather information / documentation regarding previously prepared tax returns; provide auditors with more detailed information regarding tax returns; and defend tax position and write formal protests if disputed taxes are assessed.

Make projections for quarterly estimated federal tax payments.

Review budgets and forecasts in order to estimate what annual income will be; estimate the amount of royalties and dividends company may receive from foreign entities throughout the year; and prepare paperwork to send to the government.

Gather royalties and dividends data and calculate tax credits when foreign entities pay royalties or dividends to the company.

Assist with significant special projects that occur regularly within the tax department, including, but not limited to foreign repatriation planning, managing tax compliance, global transfer pricing studies, and SAP implementation.

Qualifications: Minimum of 6 years of tax experience (manufacturing industry or public accounting)Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required MST and/or a CPA preferred Prior experience in a corporate environment preferred Knowledge of accounting and tax accounting principles Knowledge of tax law Must have intermediate to advanced level computer skills and/or must be able to learn new software quickly, including: Hyperion, Hyperion Retrieve and Upstream, CCH Research (online research), Tax Systems Resource CS (Insource), Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word We encourage all interested and qualified candidates to submit their resume or call for further information.
