Electronics Senior Staff Engineer Job Description: System Design Engineer to support research, design and development of Aircraft Turbine controls. This position has a high level of industry/Customer contact and industry awareness. In addition, this position participates in enterprise negotiation and provides technical evaluation of new opportunities within the product life cycle process. Job Description: - Support design of electronics based systems and LRU solutions from concept through platform development and ultimately production release. - Independently troubleshoots/analyzes system problems using complex computer simulations. - Independently writes complex component tests. - Leads or directs several engineers, technicians, detailers and designers on a project level basis - Conduct/evaluate research and development efforts to assess reliability of commercial-off-the-shelf components. - Develop innovative technologies to enhance reliability of COTS components for high temp applications, improve performance and reduce cost. - May be Technical Lead of international and multi-site projects Job Qualifications: - B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering required. Post-graduate technical degree strongly desired. - 12 years of professional hands-on experience with: electronic systems, analog and/or digital design, layout and simulation, schematic entry, mixed signal circuits, assembly, test and debug. Knowledge of turbine/engine controls development desired. - Experience with communication hardware (Ethernet, CAN, UART, SPI, etc.), A/D converters, memory architectures (synchronous/asynchronous), and a variety of logic families - Experience with digital (high speed design) and analog simulation software and circuit board design tools. - Candidate must be eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance. - Experience with 16/32 bit processors Freescale microcontrollers (HC12, 56x, 55xx, etc.), Freescale communication processors (5200, 5212), Xilinx FPGAs Required Skills: - Digital High Speed and Analog Electronics Design - Digital and Analog Circuits analysis and simulation - Effective written and verbal communication skills including presentations, (Customer, internal and management). Writes and communicates critical reports. Leads complex design reviews, internally and Customer. Expert technical writing skills (procedures, reports, proposals, etc.) May write and present technical papers at Conferences/Industry events. Highly refined communications skills-represents Woodward in the industry. - Competent complex problem solving/troubleshooting skills for both components and subsystems.
