Senior Software Architect - Systems Programming Job in New York, New York US
Our client, located in New York City, is seeking Senior Software Architect to join their systems programming team.
This person should have strong low level technical and programming skills, excellent problem solving and design skills and an appreciation for the scope and impact of their work.
The team is responsible for building the software infrastructure framework to support client's core products.
This includes real time market data streams, proprietary database, indexing and search systems, communication libraries, software resiliency/failover and much more.
Day to day tasks involve development and integration of new features, working on projects to improve the scalability and stability of the technology and troubleshooting / debugging the production environment to minimize failure impact.
For a candidate with the experience and aptitude for team leadership, this role can include a leadership component, but exceptional individual contributors are welcome as well.
Qualifications: 5+ years of C development experience is essential, as is exposure to the full software development life cycle.
Must have expertise in programming with UNIX/Linux.
Working knowledge of development tools such as debuggers, profilers and tracing utilities.
Experience with IPC. Hands on multithreading experience, preferably specifically with P-threads.
Excellent problem solving and multitasking skills, with a logical and pragmatic attitude.
Team player.
Problem solver.
Proactive and self-starter.
Other desirable skills include: Scripting experience, eg Perl, Python or Korn shell; C++ and/or Java; Compiler and linkers experience; Knowledge of database engines.
