Headquartered in Kirkland, Wash., the company launched its first market in August 2004 and now offers service in 16 states across the US as well as in Europe.On May 7, 2008, Clearwire Corporation and Sprint Nextel Corporation entered into a definitive agreement to combine their next-generation wireless broadband businesses to form a new wireless communications company to expedite the deployment of the first nationwide mobile WiMAX network.
In conjunction with this agreement Intel Corporation (through Intel Capital); Google Inc.; Comcast Corporation; Time Warner Cable Inc; and Bright House Networks have collectively agreed to invest $3.
2 billion into the new company.
Senior Revenue AccountantClearwire is looking for a Senior Accountant to support our international operations that will be responsible for month end close, analysis, reporting and reconciliation of revenue and related costs.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in general accounting with exposure to the revenue function.
This individual will contribute ideas and innovations to improve upon existing systems, work processes and procedures affecting this area.
This position will involve the development of a strong working relationship with peers in operational groups at Clearwire including Customer Care, Finance, IT and Operations.
Responsibilities
Prepare month end journal entries related to revenue and related costs
Reconcile subscriber payment activity to ensure cash receipt
Reconcile various balance sheet accounts
Perform monthly analysis to provide insight into anomalies and trends related to the revenue function
Establish, maintain and update procedures, policies and internal controls related to revenue accounting, the billing system and data warehouse to effectively and efficiently account for company revenue
Preparation of audit schedules
Other duties as assignedRequirements
6+ years of experience as a Revenue Accountant, Staff Accountant, International Accountant, or other related job titles within an accounting organization
Strong knowledge of US GAAP reporting requirements are required
Strong knowledge of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002
BA/BS in Accounting
Comfortable working across functions and levels within organization
Strong Excel skills required and Strong Access skills preferred
Knowledge of Alterian or other performance management software preferred
A talent for multi-tasking, meeting deadlines, learning new skills and systems
Interest and aptitude to improve accounting systems and business processes
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required
Experience in the following environments desirable: technology, startup, fast-paced enterprises
Must be able to travel to other Clearwire offices in Ireland, Belgium and Spain
