Senior Network Security Engineer Job in Woodlawn 21207, Maryland US

Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Woodlawn, Maryland. Put your experience into a future of excellence as a network security professional at a brand-new security operations center for one of the federal government’s largest civilian data/voice networks. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's team of top-notch industry-certified network engineers at the Social Security Administration headquarters campus. Roles and Responsibilities: • Review daily logs and alerts from IDS sensors, firewall and content filters • Identify and report security events. Analyze and document security problems. Escalate high priority problems • Measure and model network traffic looking for patterns and ports • Become proficient in use of customer's internal ticketing systems • Analyze data from security device logs • Perform in-depth analysis of traffic thru customer's network • Perform deep packet analysis of encrypted traffic • Establish policies based on industry best practices • Identify and document newly discovered vulnerabilities and exploits. • Apply new intrusion detection signatures, creating custom signatures when needed. • Produce ad-hoc and recurring reports • Produce monthly reports of IDS alert statistics and trends • Produce content for insertion into official monthly federal government reports • Produce monthly report on status and progress of current problem tickets and ad-hoc assignments.
