Req ID: 3058Job Title: Senior Financial/Economic AnalystGroup: Markets GroupLocation: HO - New York, NY (Head Office)Job Status: Full-Time Area Overview: The Markets Group of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York implements monetary policy on behalf of the Federal Reserve System and acts as fiscal agent for the US Treasury.
The Analytical Development (AD) staff within the Markets Group was created to help meet strategic quantitative analytical needs.AD is currently seeking a Senior Analyst to develop models and tools for use in the analysis of financial markets, the formulation of monetary policy, and the design and analysis of operations.
Candidates should hold a PhD or other advanced degree in economics, finance, or other relevant field and have experience working in financial markets.
Applicants should be interested in applying theory to practical issues in the interest of improving monetary policy implementation.
The ideal candidate understands monetary policy, econometrics, and assest pricing, and can produce concise written analysis for senior Federal Reserve Policymakers.
Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to manage projects and communicate with others are important qualifications.Job Responsibilities: Lead projects to develop models and tools tools for use in financial market analysis and operations; Work closely with other staffs to understand analytic needs;Advise staff on the application of econometric methods, the calculation of market expectations implied by financial instruments, and the modeling of asset prices;Interpret and manage time series and panel data;Manage staff to accomplish goals and collaborate with colleagues in FRBNY Research Group and at the Board of Governors;Remain current on relevant economic and finance literature and developments pertaining to financial markets and monetary policy; andSome time may be permitted for relevant fundamental research.
Position Requirements: PhD or advanced degree in economics, finance or related discipline;Proven experience applying econometric methods to operational and analytic problems;Demonstrated interest in financial markets and experience researching financial markets issues;Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to explain complex issues and make clear recommendations to senior Federal Reserve audiences; Sound organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple assignments and manage the work of others; Extensive experience with one or more of the following: Matlab, Stata, SAS, EViews.
This position requires access to FOMC information, which is limited to "Protected Individuals" as defined in the US federal immigration law. Protected Individuals include, but are not limited to, US citizens, US nationals, US permanent residents who are not yet eligible to apply for naturalization, and US permanent residents who have applied for naturalization within six months of being eligible to do so.
