Senior FPGA Engineer Job in Germantown 20876, Maryland US
Senior FPGA EngineerWe are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Senior FPGA Engineer with leadership expertise to join our Germantown, Maryland team developing state of the art Communications Test & Measurement products.
The successful candidate will architect and implement high-speed FPGA designs, using Verilog and cutting edge simulation, synthesis, place and route, and verification tools.
The candidate must also have proficiency in leading technical teams on projects.
This position has a real potential to move towards a functional management role with direct reports in the engineering staff.You will have a great opportunity to utilize your technical and leadership skills to help set direction, influence strategy, solve complex technical problems and execute on projects in a fast paced environment.
Your qualifications should include the following: Technical QualificationsBS or MS degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering and a minimum of 7 years relevant experienceHigh speed (>100MHz) FPGA design experience using Verilog or VHDLSimulation experience using Aldec Riviera, Mentor Graphics Modelsim, or similar toolsExperience using Xilinx or Altera FPGA devices and implementation tools, as well as synthesis tools such as Synopsys SynplifyVersion control experience using Clearcase, Subversion, CVS or similar toolsWorking knowledge of 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet (GBE), 10G Ethernet, Fibre Channel (FC), and IP protocol.
Working knowledge of VLANs, MPLS, VPLS, and Voice/Video over IP (VoIP, IPTV) a plusWorking knowledge of SONET (OC-3, OC-12, OC-48, OC-192), SDH (STM-1, STM-4, STM-16, STM-64), and PDH (DS1, DS3, E1, E3, E4).
Working knowledge of OTN and Next-Generation SONET/SDH (GFP, VCAT, and LCAS) a plusGeneral purpose microprocessor and DSP systems, high-speed digital board design, PLL design, and analog signal conditioning experience a plusExperience developing low-cost, high-volume electronic products preferredEffective written and oral communication skillsLeadership QualificationsAbility to work with Marketing and technical leads on new product definition to ensure alignment with customer needs (features, cost, time to market), and available technologyExperience working with Project Managers & technical staff on project planning (staff assignment, schedule development, risk assessment etc.)Ability to lead technical team and ensure expectations are met with deliverables released on-time.
