Department Overview Symantec Endpoint Security products are the core of Symantec's security strategy for the enterprise.

The company's flagship product, Symantec Endpoint Protection, provides industry leading protection to small and medium size businesses as well as world's largest enterprises.

Built on cutting-edge technologies (many of which protect millions of consumer desktops in our sister product line - Norton Internet Security and Norton 360), the system offers anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, intrusion prevention system, application control, device control, and proactive threat scanning that can be centrally managed through a scalable architecture.

Responsibilities
Design, develop, maintain and support high-quality in-house software build systems for Enterprise class software with hundreds of thousands of customers and millions of users
Ensure that design and development meet high standards of performance, reliability, maintainability
Introduce new techniques and technologies for new build systems and to evolve existing systems
Maintain and enhance external interfaces to build systems and information (users and automated)
Provide design and implementation guidance and tutoring as necessary to other team members in best practices, tool use, and quality assurance
Program build scripts and tools for builds, using most appropriate languages and technologies
Integrate automated test environments, unit test harnesses, and code analysis tools into builds
Identify and implement innovative solutions to present and future customer needs; this includes forecasting needs, and deriving requirements from customer interactions, internal as well as external
Author Functional Specification and Design Specification Documents to outline solutions to fulfill explicit and implicit requirements
Develop high quality designs and code with respect to testability, internationalization, scalability, performance, security, and fault tolerance
Communicate within and across technical teams at multiple sites, and possibly multiple countries
Provide estimates and manage own schedule at component/sub-system level
Manage build machines, servers, and build environments, and understands security concepts and processes for build systems Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Either Perl or Python are a must, but Python will be a selling point
Familiar with OOP (C# a must though Java or C++ may be acceptable depending on candidate's experience)
Familiar with Configuration Management concepts, build framework design and architecture
Must have demonstrated a solid project where they designed and implemented a cross platform build framework from scratch
Familiar with Linux or Unix a must, Windows also a must
Familiar with Perforce administration, ESX servers very desirable - but it is a must for a candidate to have solid experience at administrator level with at least one source code control tool
5+ years in Software Development and/or Configuration Management.
