Senior Chemist/Project Leader in Coatings Product Development General information about Van Technologies, Inc.: Van Technologies, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of performance, Eco-Safe or "Green" industrial coatings with strategic focus in UV curable and waterborne technologies.
Coating products are engineered and designed according to state-of-the-art statistical routines using the latest in computer modeling software.
Van Technologies is experiencing rapid growth and is capable of supporting industrial finishing on a national and international basis.
Technically, Van Technologies supports the coatings industry with waterborne and radiation (UV/EB) cured chemistries.
Polymer interactions, therefore, are closely studied and it is equally important to use organic, analytical, and physical chemistries in the development of high-tech coatings.

Job Description: The position is for an individual that must possess leadership skills, creativity, self-motivation, and an ability to work independently toward the completion of new coatings product development and existing coatings product improvement projects.
This highly visible position will have significant potential for growth within the corporation.
A minimum of a BS degree in chemistry, polymer chemistry or chemical engineering is required in addition to 3 to 5 years of experience in waterborne and UV curable coating technologies and their methods of application and cure.
The individual must be able to express them self and their ideas understandably through effective written and oral communication.
Conduct of duties must be in compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
Finally, it is required that this individual act in a responsible manner towards all other employees and customers.
Duties Include
1. design and conduct proper experimentation2 procure raw materials through commercial vendor selection or synthesis3 perform hands-on work at the laboratory bench4 maintain quality data and records of all experimentation and relevant information5 conduct field evaluation of all prototype products6 perform competitive analysis when applicable7 issue reports in timely fashion8 support both manufacturing and marketing functions9 conduct and implement Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures.10. perform literature searches when directed, including foreign literature utilizing translation skills or services when appropriate.11. supervise subordinate laboratory personnel as required.12. ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. Employee will work at company headquarters but travel is expected as project activities dictate, so as to best serve the function of product development and support.
