JOB SUMMARY :(Overview of position, how it fits in department)Regional Sales Manager (RSM) reports to the Vice President of Sales & Marketing and is responsible for achieving revenue and profit targets within the assigned territory as well as with specific customers.

As a member of the sales team, the RSM will support the other members of the sales team, participate in the development and implementation of sales strategies and engage constructively with the other functional areas of the organization, specifically Engineering, Quality and Production.

The RSM consistently demonstrates a pleasantly aggressive demeanor with an organized approach.

Utilizing good judgment and effective communication skills, the RSM exhibits diligent follow through and demonstrates willingness to take ownership and accountability for success or failure.

The RSM is self-directed, takes initiative and has strong business acumen that he/she blends effectively with his/her solid technical abilities to make sound decisions.

As a seasoned technical sales professional, the RSM is positive, optimistic and always strives to find possibilities and solutions to complex problems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Job Responsibilities/duties)Revenue and Profit Growth Responsible for revenue and profit growth in assigned region (primary region of focus is Asia)Business Development - Creatively discover, qualify and develop new business opportunities.

Pipeline Management - Proactive and organized management of complex sales process and sales pipeline with tenacious and consistent follow up.Problem Solving - Creative, constructive and persevering approach to solving problems effectively.

Effectively sell internally as well as externally.

Communication - Communicate complex ideas concisely both internally and externally.

Exhibit poise in challenging situations and communicate bad news constructively and effectively.

Collaboration - Team player that is aware of the connectivity between the Sales group and the other functions of the organization and consistently works to support the sales related needs of those functions.

Presentation Present the company and its products and value to current and potential customers concisely.

Negotiation Utilize acute business acumen and judgment to creatively and effectively negotiate solutions between SMI and its customers that support the companys strategic interests and bring value to its customers.

Strategic Thinking Develop strategies to grow revenue and profit within the region and with specific customers.

Contribute to overall sales strategy development, modification and implementation.

Forecasting Provide regular sales and profit forecasts for the region.

Present ideas, strategies and plans for filling any gaps that may exist between forecasts and targets.

Product Development - Provide NPI inputs and commercially support new production development initiatives.

Relationships Building - Strong networker with proven ability to build relationships internally and within all levels of customer organizations.

Travel - 50-75% domestic and international travel visiting new and existing customers (Education/Experience Requirements; Skills critical to success; can list as Required/Desired)Bachelors degree in engineering (or business discipline with adequate technical experience)10 years technical sales experience requiredChinese language fluency (Mandarin)Exhibits passion and hunger for success and a sincere desire to succeedExperience selling to the following;Both R&D engineers and purchasing teamExecutive level decision makersCustomers in Medical, Automotive and Industrial marketsInternational customers in their local markets, primarily Asia and specifically ChinaBoth manufacturers and distributorsExperience selling pressure sensors is a plus.

Ability to manage complex sales cycles.

History of successfully managing the design, development and production ramp process at customerSolid track record of growing sales and profitability in new and established territoriesComfortable and accomplished in navigating various Asian business cultures, especially in China.

Strong organization and follow-up skills.

Organized and proven project management skills.

Experience living and working in China is a plus.
