REGIONAL DIRECTOR, BUDGET & ACCOUNTING Job in NEW YORK 10168, New York US
Regional Director, Budget & Accounting Northeast Region Report to: Regional Vice President, Finance & Administration Provide leadership in planning, implementing, communicating, evaluating and reporting appropriate policy and programs to achieve the regions established budget and compliance objectives.
Works closely with the Regional Vice President, Finance & Administration to provide the Regional President & CEO and Board of Directors and Finance and Budget Committees with relevant financial information necessary for budgetary and financial decisions.
Requirements Direct the financial affairs of the Northeast Region within the scope of responsibility delegated by the Regional Vice President, Finance and Administration.
Develop the regions annual budget and measures operating performance against the budget throughout the year.
Perform a monthly budget to actual analysis for the regions revenue and expenses.
Monitor the budgets to ensure that all funds and resources are balanced.
Develop monthly reports and ensures timely distribution to all appropriate regional/chapter staff and volunteers.
Work closely with the Regional Vice President, Finance & Administration and assists in establishing long-range financial planning.
Advise the Regional President & CEO and Regional Vice President, Finance & Administration of unusual budget variances or problems and recommends corrective action.
Manage and coordinate the activities of employees in the finance department.
Ensure that standard accounting principles are adhered to in maintaining the regions financial records.
Accountable for the timely preparation and distribution of general accounting and financial analyses, including regional and chapter financial reports.
Work closely with department heads, and regional/chapter staff to prepare annual budgets and projections, and monitoring of same.
Assist in the development and implementation of internal control systems.
Ensure that effective financial systems are in place and complies with Federal and State laws and regulations.
Special projects and other duties as assigned.
TITLE OF DIRECT REPORTS: NUMBER OF INCUMBENTS: Accounting Manager 1Assistant Bookkeeper 2 Individuals within the chapters who are responsible for depositing donations and Team Approach data entry will report to this position.
EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus EXPERIENCE: 5 - 7 years of experience in non-profit accounting and 2 3 years supervisory experience KNOWLEDGE: Thorough knowledge of accepted accounting procedures and principlesStrong budgetary and financial management skillsKnowledge of tax laws for non-profit organizations as well as standard accounting guidelines Microsoft Office - Excel and Word is requiredProficiency in Peoplesoft is preferred.
Ability to train and supervise staff SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Proficient research and analytical abilities, including the ability to evaluate complex statistical and financial data as well as apply the principles of cost/benefit analysis Ability to deal effectively with a variety of staff and volunteersDetail oriented and willing to roll up his/her sleeves" to get things done.
Skilled in effective, clear and persuasive oral and written communicationsResolves conflicts and gains cooperation among competing interests.Up to 25% travel within the region
