Accountability: This Position Reports to the Quality Engineer Job Description/Duties: Analyze and interpret engineering drawings, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, and work for conformance to specifications.
Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
Mark items with details such as grade and acceptance or rejection status.
Record inspection or test data.
Analyze test data and make computations necessary to determine results.
Reject products and materials not meeting specifications, and assist in creating engineering change requests.
Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products, recommend necessary corrective actions, and follow-up with suppliers as needed for open corrective actions.
Notify supervisors or other personnel of production problems, and assist in identifying and correcting these problems.
Observe and monitor production operations and equipment to ensure conformance to specifications.
Basic record keeping regarding corrective actions, inspection results, calibration records, engineering changes due to nonconformances, and related items.
Job Requirements: Experience reading engineering drawings, understanding engineering specifications, and related technical documents.
Experience using calipers, gauges, and related inspection equipment in a production environment to inspect sheet metal, machined, injection molded, die cast, and other manufactured parts.
Detail-oriented, with good record-keeping skills.
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related office-type software on a Windows platform.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Comfortable presenting findings and recommendations both one-on-one and in meetings.
Professional communications both inside and outside of the company by email and phone to other employees and to suppliers.
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training desirable.
Phys Requirements: Must occasionally be able to lift and move from 50 to 100 lbs.Corrected 20/20 vision.
