Purchasing Agent Job in Provo 84604, Utah US
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: The purchasing agent is responsible for ensuring requisitions for purchases are accurate, and properly approved, for the creation of purchase orders resulting from authorized requisitions, and for buying the goods and services that fulfill the needs of the company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Review all Purchase Requisition and Capital Asset requests for accuracy and appropriate approval levels.
Ensure requisition costs fall within the requestors approved budget.
Facilitate requests in a timely, effective, efficient, and polite manner.
Compare request quantities to the economic order quantity for a vendor, and create purchase orders accordingly.
Submit orders on a regular basis to vendors, and confirm receipt and processing of all orders by the vendor.
Work with vendors to negotiate the best pricing whenever possible.
Identify required time constraints for each product, and work with vendors to obtain products by the date needed.
Follow-up on order status, shipping, and delivery for all orders.
Work with requesting departments to facilitate as much as possible their operational needs while the product is being manufactured.
Work with the warehouse to match quantity ordered against quantity received and address any discrepancies with the vendor immediately.
Work with accounts payable to hold any payments to vendors for goods or services not received.
Other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTSAbility to communicate effectively, both oral and in writing, in the English language.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to negotiate effectively.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Excellent organizational and coordination skills.
Ability to work effectively with other departments and within own department EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEˇ High school education or equivalent.
